The poem goes as:
They clean forget, and shedding of my blood red.(30)
I hung between two it cannot be denied,
To get them life I suffered to be dead,
I healed their feet, with thorns was hurt my head.
I could do no more than I did truly,
seems Jesus Christ is talking and sharp rod here may refer to the old sharp nails or a straight stick or a bundle of twigs bound together for use in caning or flogging. Also fig., a means or instrument of punishment. These lines remind me of Mel Gibson's movie, the passion of the Christ, in which they put a thorny crown on his head and flog him with sharp rods and crucify him.

Discussion
If the meaning is ambiguous let it be so. If there is a meaning behind the meaning let it be so. It is the very prominent characteristic of the poetry and in general literature. By Sharp rod the poet may mean sth different, or may have different meaning which will result in different interpretations, so the translator should not ignore this quality.
I hope I have been clear!
Jesus stretched out on the cross, with arms extended
Sharp rods, called nails, driven in each hand
1 or 2 sharp rods, driven into the feet
Cross dropped in the hole in the ground
