découpage

French to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software calculateur de contrôle
Hi,

"Le fait de se poser ces questions lors de la description et donc de la définition d’un programme permet d’ailleurs de faciliter le découpage en cas du programme en cours de définition pour une utilisation comme sous-programme/commande dans la définition d’autres programmes à venir. "

is this "segmentation"?

Thank you

you did help me decide, besides, it doesn't really matter does it? :)
Daryo Dec 28, 2012:
it looks a bit silly to me to just confirm your hunch and then make it my suggestion. But if so you wish...
Louisa Tchaicha (asker) Dec 28, 2012:
@Daryo please enter your suggestion :)

@Daryo thanks!

segmentation

when writing a program for a specific purpose, the whole problem usually has to be fragmented into elementary/basic tasks in order to become manageable. If I follow well the ST, what the author is saying is that by asking yourself the right questions at the conception stage, you can find the best way to cut the whole problem in basic "building blocks" i.e. elementary tasks, each one corresponding in the next step to a segment (often re-usable) of programming code.
découpage" in the ST is about deciding what would be the "building block"/segments of the programme about to be written, what will be its general structure.

The idea is to create modular structure for future reuse.
