The Cooper City runner and one of South Florida's top finishers at the marathon, wasn't surprised when race organizers announced that this year's 39th running of the Nov. 2 marathon will feature wave starts.
According to New York Road Runners president and race director Mary Wittenberg, the new start plan, with revised start times, has runners crossing the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Staten Island to Brooklyn in three waves, each using all three existing start lines.
