Japanese term

等 as in GCP省令等

Japanese to English Medical Medical (general) clinical trial
In this case how is 等 translated?

薬事法、「医薬品の臨床試験の実施の基準に関する省令」(平成9年厚生省令第28号。以下「GCP省令」という。)及びGCP省令に関連する通知(以下、これらを総称して「GCP省令等」という。)を遵守し次の各条のとおり医薬品の臨床試験(以下「治験」という。)の契約を締結する.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +3 GCP ordinance, etc.

Discussion

Steven Smith Jul 3, 2013:
Considering how rare this kind of 'etc'-based contraction is in English compared to Japanese, it's worth considering other options for 等, e.g. 1) simply avoid the contraction if the full noun phrase is managable: e.g. 'GCP ordinance and related notifications', or 2) find a suitable hypernym, e.g. 'GCP guidance documents'. I think the latter approach, if used appropriately, is justifiable since you are specifically defining the shortened term within the document, rather than forcing the reader to guess the scope of meaning.

Japanese term (edited): GCP省令等
Selected

GCP ordinance, etc.

The PDMA uses "etc." in this way in it's translations (see reference) so it should be fine here.
