French term

souhait d'y donner suite

French to English Bus/Financial General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Report on the sector
Again, this appears in an article about the CEO of a French energy company, as follows: 'Améliorer la performance... sera un test possiblement crucial pour le PDG, dont le mandate s'achève en novembre - pour lequel il fait peu de mystère de son souhait d'y donner suite.' (His mandate is about to come to an end).

Does this mean he's not hiding his desire to continue on at the company, or is this more about following through on something (i.e. improving the performance - either way I suppose said person would have to stay on)?

Many thanks

Louise

his desire/intention to continue in the post

It is apparent that he does not want to quit or leave the post and i think the whole translation could be " and he is making no effort to conceal/hide his desire/intention to continue in the post"
