как машины скатываются

Russian to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters casual interview
These are the words of a child who is being interviewed at the Olympic Games in Sochi about what she liked. Her response:

Ну, мне понравилось больше всего как машины скатываются, но болею я за хоккей, потому что хоккей это мой любимый вид спорта, потому что он такой очень быстрый, там надо например бегать с клюшкой... Это очень быстро надо, в общем все хорошо так.

Thank you!

how the cars/sleds came hurtling/rushing down

I think calling them "cars" is probably OK, because a little girl might well compare them to small cars, but I'm not happy with "slide", because that doesn't give to me an impression of speed (and she likes speed).
If "hurtling" is too literary, "rushing" would do. I'd also use past tense.

neutral Anna Shaughnessy (X) : In Russian text there is not indication that the girl liked the speed. She liked the process of those cars going down.

Peer comment(s):

agree Ella Gokhmark : I would suggest these are cars, not machines?

Thank you! I thought, "machine" was more common term for any sort of technical (even sport) equipment.

how (little) cars come sliding down

I believe she referred to bobsled.

I chose to use "sliding" versus "rolling" because it hints to bobsleign, which helps readers understand what the girl was talking about.

Thank you!
agree LilianNekipelov : Yes, I think so. Of course, mostly likely she means sleds, but her words should be used, even in the translation.

how they came down

I know you've already selected, but I haven't been looking lately, and still wanted to comment on this one. I'll bet that an English-speaking kid wouldn't even mention the "cars" or "sleds" or whatever, but would just say "they."

... how they came down real fast ...
