Russian term

6чащ

Russian to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting sintering
In a list of components of a metallurgical plant in N. Korea in the 1950s there appears "...агломерационная фабрика (6чащ)...".

Does anyone know what this refers to? I know чаща is a word but it doesn't seem to fit the context here. Perhaps it's an abbreviation?

Imagination It can often play Old Harry with us, translators :-) I know that firsthand.

I think you are both right! I seem to have imagined a "tail" of what I thought was a "щ"; the lettere runs into the "/" used in place of a close parentheses.
Andrey Svitanko Oct 30, 2014:
It seems to me that it is really 6 чаш
Igor Kondrashkin Oct 30, 2014:
Could it be "6 чаш" ("ш" instead of "щ")? If so, then it's just "six sinter pots".
