When using discrete inputs to control auto throttle the correct auto throttle mode must be set before auto throttle is started.  The system has three discrete inputs used to select the mode.
Mode Select #1 (In conjunction with Mode Select #2 determines the mode)
Mode Select #2 (In conjunction with Mode Select #1 determines the mode)
Mode Select #3 (Determines which Actuator is used.
