Spanish term

demarcación

Spanish to English Other Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Exhibitions
This is part of the description of a piece of contemporary art.

I'm a bit stuck on what demarcación de Lleida refers to.

"Depósito del Colegio de Arquitectos de Cataluña,
demarcación de Lleida"

Thanks

A demarcation is a line, boundary, or other conceptual separation between things. In this case, I think the "branch"of the architects association could easily be termed "section" or "unit", although I'm not so keen on the latter.
Peer comment(s):

agree Thomas Pfann : On their own website they refer to it as 'branch' --> https://www.arquitectes.cat/en/demarcacions-home/lleida (scroll down to bottom of page: Branches and offices).//Similar UK organizations have branches, too, eg. RIBA (architects) or RCN (nurses)

Yes, but they are Catalan, so caveat emptor... See my note at 17 mins.

neutral Yvonne Gallagher : "section" doesn't work for me here. It's a separate building and city. Your added note (and Thomas' link) came after I'd posted /well, neither visible when I posted! 9+17=26 and I posted at 24min:-)

I don't see how the location precludes it being called a "section". NB: I posted "branch" about 5 mins before your good self, see above :)

The College has five "sites" or "premises" across Catalunya in Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and Ebre so I think "branch" probably best

or perhaps another word that might well be used here that just occurred to me is

"campus"=site

Many thanks:-)
agree neilmac : I'd thought about "division" too but thought it more apt for businesses...

Thanks:-) I'm not entirely happy with "branch" either as it makes me think of banks/libraries.
neutral Thomas Pfann : Agree with 'branch' or similar. But careful: This is not a college in the sense of school/university but a professional association, so 'site', 'premises' or 'campus' won't work.

Thanks. But "campus" is often used this way, not necessarily to do with universities. Businesss use it too. Just means a different or particular location
