And Jeffrey seems to have misunderstood my tongue-in-the-cheek swipe at the English obsession with 'saying sorry' - that I know traditionally drives, inter alia, Spanish girls up the wall. Anecdotally, at the City of London law firm I used to work at, members of staff would, futilely, say sorry for 'getting in the physical way' and holding the door open to us fellow-colleagues.

I also translated Spanish > Norwegian (after being married and living in Chile for 7 years), and I also wondered why there never are any Proz questions in that language combinations...

And Jeffrey, as for cheap Chinese/Indian agencies offering €0,03 psw for Norwegian translations, I totally agree! I have stopped completely replying to job offers from agencies in that part of the world (knowing that 99% can only compete on prize). Though, I believe most clients would soon realize why they're only paying 25% of the regular price, and that they would not repeat the same mistake once they see the poor quality...

EN as a 'relay' lingo Whilst 'relay' language is the 'official' term, I also use 'bridging' as a stab at a graphic description. It would have been a good idea if you, Marta, had intimated such because there are some of us old lags and (Majorcan) beach boys who have experience of interpreting & translating straight out of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish into Castilian Spanish: to wit > slette lejeavtalen > dar de baja un contrato de arrendamiento; investeringsleie > canon de inversion (afecto a fondo de amortizacion); fellesarealpåslag > suplemento (vs. recargo) obligado para areas comun(al)es.

Yes, I actually am translating this contract into Spanish. The thing is that there aren't many NO-ES translators so I thought (maybe wrongly) that maybe I could get some help from a nice NO-EN colleague. BTW, apologies acepted, Jeffrey.

In English-speaking countries, it is polite to say sorry. I know it is not very common among Norwegians, but I think it is polite...

Only speculation, Jeffrey I've checked ProZ and KudoZ and there are no Norwegian-Spanish entries posted for these queries. I mentioned English as a 'relay' lingo as, recently, a ProZ Swedish into Russian/ Ukrainian insurance translator also used EN as a 'bridge' - only to be dished up totally conflicting and IMO virtually irreconcilable US vs. UK translations. And, lastly, Jeffrey, you are in Norway. So there is no need to 'keep saying sorry' in English.

My bad. I am sorry if I offended. I was assuming Marta was translating into English.
I also assumed, if you were translating into Spanish you would use the NO>SP kudoz section, which probably does not exist. Adrian must be right, you are translating into Spanis. My bad.
My point is that I constantly encounter translations/translators who translate into English without having English as their mother tongue, and delivering terrible quality. Bad for us professionals. And Hallvard, it is your business, I would argue. A certain standard/quality should be the norm? Do you think it is acceptable for a company in India or Transperfect to offer you 0.05 euro for your translations? Once again, sorry!

Green calendar Pray, Marta, what is a green calendar or timetable/calendario verde. This viejo verde/dirty old man would be intrigued to know and, more pertinently, whether you be using English as a 'relay' language to translate the noble, bookish and regal variety of Norwegian into clear and regal Castilian Spanish.

maybe this is not your language pair... just a suggestion, but if you need so much help with a document, maybe you should not be working on this type of subject. And maybe this is not your language pair.
I have my doubts that you are a native English speaker, and that your Norwegian (and danish and swedish) is good enough to translate such a complex language.
