Spanish term

Derivado/Derivar/Derivación

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci Pumps/Gas/Processes
These are the different contexts:
- Hay una derivación de la descarga de las bombas reforzadoras
- En caso de que ambos trenes de compresión estén fuera de operación se cuenta con una derivación de 24
- ...son derivados hacia el calentador de salmuera
- como una alternativa se puede derivar el gas...

The word 'derivar', is it the same as in English?, I mean, if I write "there is a booster pumps discharge derivation" is it having the same core meaning as in Spanish or do I need to use another word?
Proposed translations (English)

diverted/divert/diversion

"Derivation" would not be as accurate. I think "diversion" works best. See references.
Hope it helps.
Example sentence:

Then, if the discharge pipe freezes, the water will be diverted through the Freeze Stop and drain to the outdoors.

Thanks, Manuel
agree Robert Carter : One or more of those might also be better translated with "by-pass" too.

Thanks, Robert. Yes, especially the second sentence that talks about the equipment being out of service, "by-pass" would be perfect.
agree Thomas Walker : Agree; & agree with Robert too on the possible use of "bypass."

neutral Neil Ashby : "Diversion" - in the middle of the road to re-route traffic but not in this case.
