Harmonize expectations

You could say "harmonization of expectations" but for the sentence you gave, harmonize works fine and is less awkward...

adjusting expectations

The term usually refers to lowering expectations, hence "adjust" is good. It occasionally can refer to synchronizing expectations, such as the answer you received about "harmonizing" the expectations. In any event, if you google "he adjusted his expectations" you get 21 million and if you google "he harmonized his expectations" you get 91 thousand.

Thank you. I agree with your self-correction. I think "to adjust" is indeed to repair of sorts, and does not address the mutual debate conveyed by תיאום. The more I search the more I think that תיאום ציפיות is am Israeli term, maybe taken from the military environement...
