I agree with Robin that "pos." seems to refer to "position". HTH.
I don't know what "pos." is in English - but perhaps it's not English at all! If the English text has been translated from some other language, perhaps "pos." has been skipped by the previous translator.
That said, "pos" followed by a period ".", suggests "pos" is an abbreviation for something - "position", perhaps. Then in the first example, there are two number/letter codes, so perhaps the "s" is intended to pluralise the "pos." (There's no "s" in the cases where there s only one "pos" code...).
Conclusion:
"pos. s 36N and P" --> positions N and P on page/figure 36
"pos. 36A" --> position A on page/figure 36
