Italian term

RX emicostati

Italian to English Medical Medical (general)
This is from a discharge report. The patient had an RX torace (chest X-ray) and a ** RX emicostati ** on the same day. Is this an X-ray of half the rib cage i.e. hemithorax?
Thanks
Proposed translations (English)
3 -1 X-ray of hemothorax

I went with X-ray of hemithorax (not hemothorax) as suggested - I didn't accept the actual answer (hemothorax) because of the spelling and the rather large difference in meaning! I think it was probably just a typo.

How did you translate the term in the end? Hi Penny, just wondering how you translated the term in the end?
Fiona Grace Peterson Aug 9, 2017:
Lateral decubitus radiograph It might be this, since they seem to be referring to a separate technique.

Chest (lateral decubitus view)
The lateral decubitus view of the chest is a specialised projection utilised to demonstrate small pleural effusions, or for the investigation of pneumothorax and air trapping due to inhaled foreign bodies.

I know this is French, but it says hemithorax.
Peer comments on this reference comment:

agree Joseph Tein : I have hemithorax in my Italian -> English glossary , so why don't you post this? And while you're at it, you should post your answer to this also: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish_to_english/medical_general...

Thanks! I wasn't sure, but I bow to your expertise. And I didn't see your comment on the previous question.
neutral Fiona Grace Peterson : This context is different - it refers to palpation, not to radiology.
