French term or phrase: boîte à eau
Hi everyone,

I am translating a document describing maintenance operations on a rectifier.

Faire coulisser légèrement l’ensemble clinquant/boîte à eau pour libérer le semi-conducteur
Nettoyer si besoin la poussière autour de l’ensemble barre / composant / boîte à eau.

I can't manage to save the text boxes on the picture, the boîte à eau is the plate with the two blue bolts above the semi-conductor in white.

There you go, then! I was afraid there was going to be a more specific term in this particular context.

aquatic box

Explanation:
it means that this box is contained within water,so it is in an "aquatic" environment otslef.

disagree  Tony M: Technical nonsense here, I'm afraid; in any event, it wouldn't be 'aquatic' in this sort of context. In fact, of course, the box almost certainly CONTAINS water, it is certainly not SURROUNDED BY it!

neutral  Tony M: I don't think 'tank' is really a good solution here, both in terms of its size, and also its function: 'tank' in many cases tends to suggest 'reservoir', which doesn't appear to be the function here.

agree  GHANIA Khalifa: Mr. Tony what do you think of " Water Stack"

  -> Thanks! Well, that clearly isn't the accepted term in this case, and doesn't seem to me to describe the form (or function) of just one of these (though it could conceivably describe a whole series of them).

agree  Johannes Gleim: Water cooling is efficient, esp. for high-current recitifiers.

  -> Danke, Johannes!

disagree  GILLES MEUNIER: vous confondez avec caisson d'air

  -> How funny, since Asker has confirmed this is the correct term! You must understand that there is rarely an exact, slavish, 1-to-1 correspondence between FR and EN as far as technical terms go — and I am certainly confusing nothing here!

agree  narasimha (X): box for cooling with water circulation

  -> Thanks, Narasimha!
