Lessons Learned from Bulgarian Colleagues: Bulgaria’s experience joining the EU has direct relevance to Georgia’s approximation process.  Bulgarian experts said they failed to push back enough to avoid the closing of some small to medium enterprises, while pointing out they were able to carve out some derogations for small scale traders by arguing their products did not enter commercial channels.
