French term

2 :1 – tirant

French to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Lifts/elevators
I'm afraid context is sadly lacking, as this is just a single term in a table under the heading "Suspension". It refers to a goods lift and, in the same column the entries for the passenger lifts are all "2 :1 – 5 ᴓ 11".

Very odd The client has said that it is to be translated as "Suspension 2:1". So, I think I'll just close this and accept it as one of those unsolved mysteries.

This is guesswork, isn't it? Does "tirant" refer to pulling, as of cables? 5 cables, each of diameter 11mm? Who knows?
