Discussion

Johannes Gleim Jan 11, 2020:
@ claude pallets are standardized in size and material.
claude-andrew (asker) Jan 11, 2020:
Client's answer It means "odd pallets" i.e. ones that are not the same model as all the others
claude-andrew (asker) Jan 2, 2020:
The client is still on holiday - stay around, I promise I'll post his answer!
Wolf Draeger Dec 29, 2019:
Pallet stacking I think it's more to do with stacking the pallets and décroisé refers to pallets that are either unsound or out of place, but I'm not sure. Are the pallets in question deleted in a computer program or removed physically?

It's also unclear from the text whether we're talking about empty or packed pallets or what material they're made of. Your standard wooden pallet comprises intersecting boards or stringers, so maybe an 'uncrossed' pallet is one that has come apart? See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pallet
Ph_B (X) Dec 29, 2019:
More precisely... Not "shared pallets" as I don't think they're actually shared, but removing those pallets that are part of these flux décroisés.
There is also some evidence in a different field (reform of the civil service) that décroisement is used as a synonym of mutualisation (des moyens).
Ph_B (X) Dec 29, 2019:
Removing shared pallets? There is some evidence that palettes décroisées might be linked to flux décroisés/décroisement des flux. I can't copy the source, but try "Mazars Decroisement des flux avril 2015" in your search engine. Look at p. 25.
This flux décroisés/décroisement des flux is about cutting down the cost of transporting newspapers and mags (mutualisation). Cf. I can't copy the source, but try "rapport mazars schéma directeur décroisement" in your search engine.
See also ...partage de la distribution avec les MLP, dit « décroisement des flux » (chaque messagerie étant responsable d’un territoire) ( http://www.senat.fr/rap/a18-151-42/a18-151-421.pdf ) or b) De louables efforts de mutualisation (1) Le décroisement des flux ( http://www2.senat.fr/rap/a15-168-4-2/a15-168-4-23.html )
Removing shared pallets?
Wolf Draeger Dec 29, 2019:
Change field? Should the question not perhaps be moved to Shipping/Logistics? Might catch the eye of answerers with warehousing knowledge.
claude-andrew (asker) Dec 29, 2019:
Im going to ask the client - you'll have to wait a bit as they're on holiday this week!
Stephanie Benoist Dec 28, 2019:
It sounds more like "delete the 'lone' palettes from the system (they are not matched, or "croisées", to storage spaces. I am really just guessing, though.
Thomas Miles Dec 28, 2019:
The pallet itself? As the last point in your list talks about storing the pallets, can we assume that this term refers to the structure of the pallets themselves, rather than the pattern by which goods are stacked upon them? I may suggest something like 'pallets without a criss-cross lattice'.

not conforming pallets

Pallets are standardized, but in different sizes. It can also mean damaged or rotten.

Two-way pallets are designed to be lifted by the deckboards. The standard 48x40 North American pallet, or GMA pallet, has stringers of 48 inches and deckboards of 40 inches, and was standardized by the Grocery Manufacturers Association. A standard wooden pallet (48 in × 40 in × 6 in or 122 cm × 102 cm × 15 cm) with a static load bearing capacity of 3 short tons (2.7 long tons; 2.7 t) and a 1-short-ton (0.89-long-ton; 0.91 t) dynamic capacity, will weigh approximately 33 to 48 lb (15 to 22 kg) Lightweight plastic pallets can weigh as little as 3 to 15 pounds (1.4 to 6.8 kg), while heavier models may weight up to 300 pounds (140 kg). "Standard GMA pallets can hold up to 460 pounds (210 kg). GMA pallets typically weighs 37 pounds (17 kg), and are 6 1⁄2 inches (170 mm) tall. Their deck boards measure 3 1⁄4 inches (83 mm) wide and are 5⁄16 inch (7.9 mm) thick each. Other dimensions of pallets have different weight capacities.
:
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) sanctions six pallet dimensions, detailed in ISO Standard 6780:2003 Flat pallets for intercontinental materials handling — Principal dimensions and tolerances, which was reviewed and confirmed in 2014:[2]
:
Old and discarded wooden pallets can be used in pallet crafts and various furniture pieces.[31]
