French term

prolongement en impasse

French to English Other Real Estate
A company purchased a property off-plan, which is part of an extensive development project involving the construction of many buildings and the following: 'une voirie centrale desservant les différents bâtiments, bordée par des places de stationnement et en son côté gauche par un trottoir, avec en son nord-ouest un *prolongement en impasse* débouchant sur une passerelle métallique permettant un accès piéton à la parcelle ...'
As is often the case, it's difficult (for me anyway!!) to know what they're talking about without actually visiting the property or checking it out on Google maps, but the exact address is not given. I wonder whether it's simply a form of passageway/walkway. There are very few hits on Google for the term and I haven't been able to come up with anything with the help of IATE, Dicobat or Harrapp's either, so any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance if you're able to help me with this term.

I think they're just saying that the road extends into a dead-end that leads to a footbridge. So vehicles can't get through that section, but a pedestrian can?
