Actually, I'll take it back. Driving side is the same as "rule of the road". As explained in my post, the original term has to do with the direction, either one-way or two-way. At least that's how I understand the term in question. |
Discussion
De acordo com o Aulete Digital, mão de direção é "o sentido, a direção do trânsito numa rua, estrada etc." Uma via pode ser de mão única ou mão dupla.
Já "sentido de circulação" refere-se à "forma pela qual os veículos devem ser conduzidos nas ruas e rodovias de cada país, no que diz respeito ao lado pelo qual se deve conduzir tais veículos, ou mesmo para os pedestres, que devem saber o sentido de circulação para poder atravessar as ruas com segurança". (O grifo é meu.) Também se refere à posição do volante de um veículo (à direita ou à esquerda). O sentido pode ser "right-hand traffic" ou "left-hand traffic": https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentido_de_circulação_de_tráfe...
Entendo que "rule of the road" ou "driving side" seja o "sentido de circulação do trâfego", e nào o "sentido" ou a "direção" de uma via pública.
