This is from a complaint and jury demand in a civil action for sexual harassment. One of the defendants - the founder and CEO of a non-profit - is described as appearing "to be well-regarded by lions in the field". I have never heard that expression but I'm assuming it means "renowned experts in the field" and thought of translating this as "schien unter den Koryphäen auf diesem Gebiet ein hohes Ansehen zu genießen". However, before going ahead with this translation, I thought I'd ask the "lions" here on ProZ whether my understanding is correct. Looking forward to your feedback! TIA

Aber letztlich fand ich, dass Wendys Vorschlag noch besser passt, gerade weil es hier um eine Non-Profit geht, bei der die Mitarbeiter und Führungskräfte für eine Sache kämpfen, ohne unbedingt die größten Kapazitäten auf dem Gebiet zu sein. |

Wouldn't this stand for the hierarchy in the world of self-invented or at least perceived (by others...) leadership?
An individual at least who is thought to be outstanding within the community of his/her peers out there in the corresponding 'field' of whatever...?
