Thanks to X for their personal introductions

Non-PRO English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters University
Hi! I am translating from English to French a short text written by a University professor. In this text, he says that writing the proposal for his paper wasn't easy and he wishes to thank fellow journalists, professors and writers for their "personal introductions". What does it mean exactly in this context?

Thanks a million !

The writer is a University professor and the text is an exterp from his paper published in an A-list journal. He is American.

Arabic & More Aug 8, 2021:
If it had been something written, the professor would have been more likely to say "introductory statements" (or something similar).

We don't know here what the sentence actually said, and it is possible that the professor was thanking these people for helping create connections that facilitated his work.

If you want better and more precise answers, you will have to post the exact sentence/paragraph in which the phrase appeared along with more surrounding context. As noted by Tina, the usual meaning is "introductions to people."

neutral Tina Vonhof (X) : It isn't clear from the context but 'personal introductions' usually means 'introductions to people'. In this case people who provided valuable information.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hi! Sorry for the late response, I had a little login issue. Yes, the paper doesn't provide me with much context. "personal introduction" reminded me of past letters of introduction. I think therefore that your answer confirms that. I reread this passage, and the writer says, few lines before that, that it is difficult to find the right co-writer. My guess is that these other people have either recommended someone to him, or him to someone more reknowned in the field..."

Thank you X, your introduction is/was helpful !!

I am highly confident there is an unclear context, which should be elaborated to furthermore...

My guess:
1. It's either about a spoken introduction, which aspired the speaker.
2. Or, it's merely a complement, in general terms, for the assistance.

SO, in my opinion;
You need to generalize it in reference to a group of people /based on ..their.. /
Stick to the literal translation, where "personal introductions" are a simple noun & pronoun, and hope for the recipient to figure the detailed sentence...
