French term

détention d'ISC

French to English Tech/Engineering Management
Hello everyone,

This is in a list of documents defining a contract and I have found it in various websites, I understand that ISC = Information ou Support Classifié, my client instructed to translate it "Classified information and media" which is OK with me, I just don't know how to translate the "avec détention" part. Can it be just "with"?

"Annexe de sécurité au contrat avec détention d’ISC n°XXX notifié le X février XXXX "

I can read ' I just don't know how to translate the 'avec détention' part...
philgoddard Sep 3, 2021:
Actually it doesn't But I'd translate 'avec' as 'involving'.
Emmanuella Sep 3, 2021:
@ philgoddard - la question concerne la préposition 'avec'.
Emmanuella Sep 3, 2021:
Yes it is a standard wording.

Hi again Phil! ISC is in the glossary of terms that we were provided with at the beginning of our cooperation, I thought "avec détention de" might be a standard legal term.

It sounds like custody - but if the client can tell you the meaning of ISC, can't they tell you this too?

custody of classified information and media

Its hard to know with so little context, which is not your fault, but it seems reasonable to assume that it's about how to look after this information.

I'd have said "media or information", but if that's what the customer wants...
