français term

tailles d’échange de données

français vers anglais Technique / Génie Ordinateurs : matériel data I/O
Context.
La borne peut se configurer via XXXX-I/O-CHECK et s’adapte facilement aux applications, grâce à sa palette de vitesses de transmission et de tailles d’échange de données.

I'm editing yet again and this has been translated as "data exchange sizes".
Is this correct please,

TIA Chris.

Lisa Rosengard Nov 20, 2021:
It's about the size of data storage available on a computer hard disc memory. It's about the speed of transmission and the possibility of copying and transferring data as documents on file from one system to another. There's an exchange file or an interchange file on an operating system. Note that RAM is 'random active memory' It talks about remaining or free RAM space which tells the user how much space the computer has remaining to allow the user to know what size of files or data can be copied on to the same system, perhaps in the form of film or photography. The 'borne d'interface' seems to be the part of the computer hard disc with ports which accept links to removable storage or memory devices which can be attached and removed to and from the computer hard disc. They can be used for back-up.

@ Daryo It is in fact the W-GATE-62-xRTU
Bashiqa (asker) Nov 19, 2021:
@ Daryo Exactly. This is where my previous question regarding the TOR information came from. Think we now are happy with All or Nothing, I`m just trying to find an acronym for TOR in English, if there is one
Daryo Nov 18, 2021:
@ Bashiqa are we talking of a gadget of this kind:

Daryo Nov 18, 2021:
@ Mpoma ghits on their own "prove" absolutely nothing.

It's ONLY an indicator of how often you will find a term in what was made available to search engines on the part of the Web made accessible to the public.

Which is only a fraction of what can be found if you have also access to members-only sites, and an even smaller fraction of what is available in total (including off-line sources, printed materials etc etc).

Here, there are many different "sizes" (of data) that could be relevant, so without more context, no reliable answer is possible.

With "grâce à sa palette de vitesses de transmission et de tailles d’échange de données." and knowing that it's some kind of router, "frame / packet sizes" is very likely to be what they are on about. But without some fairly exhaustive technical documentation, it's far from being 100% sure.
Mpoma Nov 18, 2021:
"packet" is paquet de données. But this French expression gets 2 ghits. So probably a neologism for the aforesaid. OTOH "data exchange size" gets 9700 ghits. So perhaps the safer option.
Bashiqa (asker) Nov 18, 2021:
@ daryo. Packet size is what I had in mind. Thank you, Chris.
Daryo Nov 18, 2021:
sounds like "different frame / packet sizes", as data gets transmitted cut into chunks usually called frames or packets, (the size of which is one of the parameters to set when connection is being established) but without MORE context, it's just a guess.

disagree Mpoma : Whoops! nothing to do with databases, I fear.

disagree Daryo : absolutely no way! A "router" can be used to transmit just about anything, ANY kind of data.

disagree SafeTex : Agree with others plus this question is about hardware whereas databases are software
