¿animación suspendida no suena algo Spanglish?
It’s mid-May 2012. After a cooler than normal spring, the temperatures have risen and with the warmth butterflies have become much more evident. For a month or two there will be plenty of butterfly activity but then, as Patrick Barkham explains, things will quieten down: ‘In southern Europe the biggest problem for butterflies is summer, when it is too hot and dry and food plants die off, threatening butterflies and their caterpillars with starvation. Most butterflies deal with extreme heat with a diapause, a form of summer hibernation during which insects stop growing and go into suspended animation.’
