شكرا جزيلا. أتفق معك تماما، كما أني أعتقد أن ريموند كارفر قصد بهذه الروايات أيضا، تلك الروايات التي
يكتبها دخلاء على عالم الكتابة. فهمت المقصود بهذا المصطلح لكني كنت أسعى لايجاد التعبير الصحيح عنه بالعربية.

These are not novels featuring the lives of mothers, as suggested below. A mom-and-pop novel is basically "boring" (comfortable) fiction produced for mass consumption and which is devoid of experimentation or risks. The phrase comes from the idea of "mom-and-pop" businesses, which are small businesses run by regular, everyday people rather than by big corporations.
