Spanish term

enfermedad de base conocida tipo (MT)

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) prostate cancer
Esto aparece en un informe tomográfico de un paciente con cáncer de próstata:

"Litiasis vesicular múltiple.

Lesiones de aspecto osteolítico probablemente secundario a **enfermedad de base conocida tipo (MT)** que compromete los cuerpos vertebrales L4-L5-S1 y los arcos costales derechos 7-8."

Pienso que enfermedad de base es underlying disease. Quisiera saber qué significa "tipo MT". Se me ocurre que puede referirse a metástasis

Muchas gracias nuevamente

known underlying illness (metastasis)

known underlying illness (metastasis)

The abbreviation is likely referring to the underling illness, which in this case is cancerous/metastatic.

As suggested by Joseph, a more precise translation of the "(MT)" would be "known underlying illness" (metastatic type).
Example sentence:

Pacientes con Patología de Base o Factores de riesgo para el Desarrollo de Enfermedad Neumocócica

agree Joseph Tein : I agree mostly. The text says (tipo MT) and I think the translation needs to say (metastatic type) to be precise.//Bravo! See my new Reference notes :)

metastatic type

I'm not 100% sure of this because I haven't come across this term before, but I think we need the whole phrase "metastatic type" here. I think it describes the type of tumor. See:

"The 2013 edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies it as an intermediate-type fibrous tissue cell tumor (occasionally metastatic type)."

"Is there something about the tumor biology that may make it more prone to having metastatic type disease or maybe even a recurrence in general, or even something along the lines of a chest wall recurrence?"

" Background Melanoma is a highly metastatic type of cancer that is resistant to all standard anticancer therapies and thus has a poor prognosis. "
