From a chart describing different types of sewing thread:

Filamenti testurizzati, tinti e lubrificati, che vengono colorati.

I asked the author what the difference between tinti and colorati is. Their response: "la tintura e la colorazione sono due passaggi diversi della lavorazione dei filati."

Under normal circumstances I would take both tinto and colorato to mean 'dyed', but apparently there is a difference here. Any suggestions?

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Yep... The author is very uncooperative (almost hostile) and doesn't provide real answers, as you can see. They took 3 months just to send me that non-answer so asking again isn't an option unfortunately.

I don't think they've answered your question. They've said the two processes are different, but not how. You should ask.
