This is a text on coopertivism. My best guess is that it's a mushroom harvested in the wild, but I can find nothing to support this. The author uses the reference as if everyone will understand what this is. Is it possibly a typo?

porches
badiu in singular. There is no exact correspondance in English because it is part of both the architectural and cultural heritage of Catalonia. Basically it is the common area (outside patio usually) of an apartment in the city, but in the mountains is the area of overhang of the roof creating a covered space where things can be stored (particularlly suited to drying fruits, mushrooms, etc.). I suggest using the original term in Catalan, with a parenthetical explanation.

It is a common area than can be used for production (of food or rural goods), organization, or leisure activities for the good of the entire community (which may range from an apartment building, to a rural hamlet, to even somewhat larger groups).
