substituição em sensibilidade relativa à referência

Portuguese to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Prezista/ritonavir HIV drug
I am translating a booklet of information for healthcare professional relating to Prezista, a drug to treat HIV. This sentence is causing me problems in terms of the question posted above. "O fenótipo na linha de base de darunavir (substituição em sensibilidade relativa à referência) mostrou ser um fator preditivo de resultado virológico".

reference-associated sensitivity substitution

It would be good to have more examples of where "referência" appears in the text - is the substitution associated to the reference or is the sensitivity related to the reference?
Note from asker:
Sorry, no other instances of reference in the document. Also, I am not sure if sensibilidade means sensitivity (to the drug) or susceptibility, although I suppose they are the same thing, so it doesn't really matter in this case.

shift in susceptibility relative to reference

You appear to be doing a back translation, so you just have to find the English product information. I don't know if your customer allows you to do this, but it does give you a definitive answer.

Baseline darunavir phenotype (shift in susceptibility relative to reference) was shown to be a predictive factor of virologic outcome.

Susceptibility means whether the virus is affected by the drug.
Note from asker:
Naughty of them not to have told me it is a back-translation, but that would explain the rather suspect Portuguese :) I found some good reference material and have added a note and writtenthe correct English in a couple of places already.
