something written on an amulet
i recieved an amulet from a friend and want to use it for a school project but don't feel right about using it if i don't know what the ancient greek means.
On the left side of the raven along the curv: 1) Kappa 2) Delta or Lambda, probly Delta 3) Iota 4) Delta or Lambda, probly Delta 5)Sigma, Zeta, or Xi, most probobly Zeta,maybe Xi, probly not Sigma 6)Upsilon 7)Lambda

I cannot make much of this, the only likely Greek word being 'xylou', 'of wood'; I conjecture this from the last five letters "on the left side of the raven along the curve", and even this is only possible if the fifth letter from the last is xi, not zeta or sigma. It is impossible to deduce any other Greek words from the sequence of the letters as you describe them. The inscription, if Greek, seems too fragmentary to reconstruct. It may in fact be in Coptic, which employs a script very similar to the Greek.

: May be there are concised words. I'm sure it's not Ancient Greek-the amulets are usually mediaeval or later. The language is most probably Byzantine or even Modern Greek(!). It depends on how old is the item.
