"Trafficking" is an international word these days, but in this context I would prefer "smuggling". I would like to ask if somebody knows about a type of trafficking in narcotics that is not equal to smuggling. If so, I will have to use the word "trafficking".

As I understand it, trafficking deals more specifically with the trading and dealing of the illegal substances, whereas smuggling is more the idea of moving the substance physically in and out of a place. Your context will decide the proper word.
