Length of the top and bottom landings Explanation: Not 100% certain about this, but I think it's talking about the length of the horizontal section at the top and bottom of the escalator. There's a metal plate that we walk on, and underneath that plate, the steps are gliding along horizontally, before they emerge from the plate, we step on, and they start going up/down. Escalator steps are 400mm wide, so the increments are right - the flat landing part can be 3 steps (1.2m) or 4 steps (1.6m) long. It needs to be longer to properly anchor a super-long 10m escalator. And the top landing is often longer than the bottom landing. |

The horizontal movement distance Explanation: It just means "the horizontal movement length/distance". This movement is actually hidden under the top/bottom platform. After the transition phase, the steps "vanished" into "horizontal movement phase", and it will travel horizontally for 1.2 m or more. 水平移动距离 is just the length of this phase.
