I would not agree to "be put/placed quietly", because we usually say:
He is standing quietely near the river.
but we seldom say:
The boat is quietly tied up to a boat near the river.
"Quietly" addresses the environment where the object is located, but it cannot be imposed directly on the object.
As for "lying/standing", you need to find a word that best suits the object you are describing.
