I agree with Ineke's comment about the underspending of a budget and I wondered about it myself. A little more context would be useful. I think this is just a badly chosen word for stock shortages in the Dutch text, which the software will then flag, but it really depends on the context.

disagree  Ineke Hardy: I agree with "looming" ("potential" is too weak a word for "dreigend") but as I understand onderschrijding, it has to do with underspending a budget.

thinks it just means the actual stock being less than the budgeted stock rather than a shortage, shortage is the possible result of understocking. not sure if i am making sense here...if it was a shortage I probably would have used "tekort".
