Yes, it seems you are right. How about "trigger group well"? I am just guessing here, but this term is used often and seems to apply to the same part.

I did check this of course, but this term seems to be used only with pistols and old fashioned rifles, not with modern rifles like the M16 |

: A quick cross reference on Google shows that 'trigger housing' is also used for M16s.
