The exchange gain arose from the settling of National Committee 2015 receivables during 2016 at more favourable exchange rates than the prevailing rates as at 31 December 2015.

Quelqu'un peut-il m'aider à démêler cette phrase... je comprends bien qu'il y a eu un gain de change et que les taux de change ont été fixés à un taux plus favorable que celui en vigueur au 31 décembre 2015, mais c'est au milieu de la phrase que je me perds... merci d'avance chers collègues.

Françoise LE MEUR Jul 26, 2017: The explanation is correct except a slight error : Receivables cannot be owed by National Committee (it is called payables in this case) but only due to NC... (créances clients).

Tony M Jul 26, 2017: @ Asker 'receivables' are sums of money owing to you; so because the receivables due to the National Committee originally due in 2015 were not paid till 2016, they were received at an advantageous exchange rate. Say a customer owes me $1.20 at a time when there are $1.2 / £; so I bill them £1.00; if they later pay me that £1.00 at a time when the exchange rate has improved to say $1.3, then I will receive $1.30 — a gain of $0.10 compared to what I was expecting to receive (and for which I was originally billing).
