There seems to be a misunderstanding about what is meant by "internal champions". The refrence below clarifies that these are people developed within a (potential or actual) client firm (A) by e.g. sales people from a firm (B) that wants to sell to or gain contracts from firm A. The internal champions will argue firm B's case within firm A.

agree  Tony M: Ah, for one of my big clients, those are called 'ambassadors' — it seems different organizations use different terminology :-(

  -> Thanks Tony. Yes, but possibly with slightly different roles. "ambassadors" are probably more up-front about what they are doing.
neutral  John Detre: I don't think "internal chamnpions" necessarily have to be champions for another firm. They could be employees who have been chosen to champion a particular corporate program, approach, etc. within their departments.
