passe en position/passe à l'état Bas
My try... : )
On pourrait traduire condition par "statut", par exemple.

To my mind, "is set" here means "switches to", or something along these lines.

Or "defaults to".

: I'm glad you agree with my use of 'état' for a logic state. However, do note that 'is set' is much more active than simply 'passe' (which would translate 'goes low') — it is actually MADE TO GO low. Do you see what I mean? The difference is important!

Yes, I can definitely see what you mean. However, when used in this kind of context, "passer" often implies that it is the system that makes a function do something. Still, to make everybody happy, I suggest "se met en mode Bas". : )

est mis à l'état bas
Very often, logic states as here are left as L and H in FR — but in view of the fact this is a patent, I think you maybe ought to spell it out explicitly — written in full, even in EN, we might say "is set to the 'low' state"

Gilles is unhappy with the use of 'état', even though that is a standrad translation for a logic state; but if the repetition is really a problem, then I would simply use a different expression for the preceding 'stop condition establishment' — problem solved!

No, here it is more than merely 'defined', as 'set' means it is forced to that value, regardless of the value it may have had before.

François's good suggestion of 'niveau bas' might avoid any possible issue with 'état'.

GILLES MEUNIER
: condition (état) est cité avant (stop condition) donc c'est impossible de traduire ainsi à mon sens....ça va faire une répétition sur 'état'. Cela ne veut pas dire est mis sur mais est défini sur. Il y a un glissement de sens....

The 'état' could be left out, but there is a need for a verb to render 'set'. This is the expression I find all the time in my FR > EN electronics translations, authored by native FR electronics experts.
