Il me semble évident que ce sont à la fois les invasions musulmanes ET la montée de l'hindouisme qui ont causé le déclin du bouddhisme. Selon moi, le verbe "undermine" ne devrait pas avoir de "s" à la fin.

Probably both are the subjects of the verb (?)... I don't know. The sentence appears in a chronology that introduces the rest of the book (which was by the way too rapidly written, i.e. there are many wrong-spellings etc). I have difficulty to translate "undermine" and link it with "for the common people"

This seems fairly telegraphic Stéphanie; as a result, do you interpret both 'Muslim invasions' AND 'the rise of Hindu..' to BOTH be the subjects of the singular verb 'undermines', or do you read it as being simply badly punctuated?
