I understand your argument, but I think that whether one is speaking about hardware or software, the burner concept remains the same. Here is another article explaining various uses for a burner phone: http://lifehacker.com/five-useful-things-you-can-do-with-a-b...
What they all have in common is disposability. Anonymity is cited as only one of several possible reasons to have a burner phone (or burner number), and in some cases anonymity would even run counter to the purpose of having a burner phone.

is not a relevant reference as it refers not to a real "burner phone" [as in: a piece of hardware consisting of a phone and a SIM card, and for all practical purposes untraceable by anyone] but to a service that emulates the use of a burner phone, with in fact the same final aim: preserving your anonymity [ONLY as far as the general public is concerned] when you have to make your contact details publicly available!

"jetable" is the usual term, but in fact "anonyme" is a far more accurate description.
