Trip means はずれた、引っ掛かった、つまづいた、故障した, and so forth. In this case, はずれたmight be appropriate. I believe plate is 板, not 版.

デフレクタープレートの誤作動
おそらくデフレクタープレートがあらぬ方向に飛んでしまった（Trip）場合と推測します。
他にもいろんな言い回しがあると思いますが、全部まとめて誤作動と表現してみました。
