Pursuant to Article 29 of The Courts of Justice Law 14/1960 (hereinafter «L.14.1960»), the Cypriot Courts apply common law and the equitable principles, unless there is a contrary provision provided by a Cypriot statute or by the Cypriot Constitution. In such case, the Cypriot statute, constitution or case law prevail. In practice, this means that where there is no Cypriot statutory provision or case which contradicts English case law, the English case law is applicable in Cyprus.
