What is a Residents Feedback Panel?
A Residents Feedback Panel, as the name suggests, is a panel of residents that is created in order to give feedback to a local government authority1 about the services it provides. The term2, panel, may be misleading because it suggests that a group comes together--this is not the case. It is not a committee and members may never meet. It is a pool of thoughtful, willing citizens3 who can be used according to a council’s needs and to the extent that these citizens remain willing to be involved. Most often this pool of participants--or panellists--will make themselves available to council staff to answer written questionnaires or respond to short telephone surveys. On occasions panellists can be called upon to participate in a focus group or a planning workshop. Panellists can be involved in providing feedback about existing services, about proposed developments or can contribute ideas to help a council provide better services. The agenda is set by the council itself.

The East Sussex Residents' Panel
The East Sussex Residents' Panel is made up from a representative cross-section of 1,900 residents. The current members were recruited in Spring 2008.
Joining the Residents' Panel
Anyone who is an East Sussex resident can become a member of the panel and have your say on Council matters. We are looking for a good cross-section of local people and that includes anyone who:
lives in a rural area
belongs to a minority ethnic group (including travellers)
has a child of school age
is aged 18 to 30
is over pensionable age
is living with a disability
works full time or part-time, is self employed or is unemployed.
Membership is balanced in proportion to the size of each district and by age and gender.

What the panel does
We consult the panel in person and by other methods about issues agreed by the County Council. Members take part in workshops and focus groups, telephone interviews, paper-based and online surveys.
The panel tells us about residents' needs, experiences, ideas and opinions on our policies and services. Information given by members of the panel is treated in the strictest confidence.
This knowledge helps us improve the way we make decisions and understand more about the views of people who do not normally contact us.

С' обзиром на то да тај панел има чланство од 1 000 до 2 000 људи, мало га је теже уклопити у одомаћене називе; притом не знамо ни да ли свуда има исту функцију; у сваком случају, ово је предлог који ми је први пао на памет. Поздрав!
