Rust Belt

Hi everyone,
The Rust Belt is translated into Spanish as "el cinturón manufacturero". But I'mt subtitling this for a children's movie (The Muppets), and I don't think it's appropriate in that context. I was thinking of leaving it as it is, since it refers to some regions in the US. Should I use italics or not?
Another option would be to omit the name and translate it as something like "de la zona":
"According to the 80's Robot, he's the richest plumbing magnate in the Rust Belt."
Then:
(with or without italics?)
Which option would you recommend me for this particular context?
Thanks a lot in advance!
