me gustaría saber qué significa "quill" en este texto.

Creo que patinba está en lo cierto, tendría que ser "quid", que es la forma coloquial de referirse a las libras.

quid?

Could this be a miss-spelling? quid instead of quill.
Twenty quid a night means twenty Pounds (sterling) a night. Quid is a colloquial way to say Pound in UK English
