Carolina316 On answering the term you requested I came upon some information reported in my answer. The name of the rail junction switching place is Skunk Hollow Switching Wye, that's how it appears in you context. Requesting Switching Wye alone had misled many as it doesn't give a full picture of the term. So in my answer I included the full name and what it meant I put it within brackets. I had to explain this to other peers when the question was raised.

Term requested switching wye

Skunk Hollow Switching Wye is the name of the point where there a way for changing rail tracks and under the EIS, MN&S (Minnesota North and South had in mind removing it (eliminate it).

The only problen was that the term was split and switching wye came as term. This really made no sense.

Nice for you to bring it up. There is a mistake in the term requested. It just appears as "switching wye" when it should have been Skunk switching Holow wye, which is the name of the rail track switching place. I forgot to question it. Read the context.

One of St. Louis Park's conditions for accepting a re-route plan is removal of the "switching wye", (Illustrated in gold on this map) The switching wye is a holdover from previous railroad operations in the "skunk hollow" portion of St. Louis Park. The purpose of the wye is to make it possible for trains to change to/from an east/west direction on the Bass Lake Spur to/from a north/south direction on the MN&S. It is a substitute for a more efficient ramp (like a freeway interconnect) that could do the same thing much more easily.
