English term

both mix and geographical scope

English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
Some problem areas remained, like in finance where the company was trying to shift from some potential trouble spots such as consumer credit cards, but even GEs finance division was strong top to bottom, especially considering the environment. The company routinely applied a stress test to its lending group, determining how a sudden rise of a point or two in interest rates would affect business. And GE Capital was well diversified in terms of both mix and geographical scope so that the impending downturn was not expected to cause any severe internal pain.

mix of products/industries and places in the world

because GE is involved in many different endeavors (mix) in many places around the world (geographical scope ), it is unlikely that every aspect of the company in every geographical location will suffer.

a blend of diverse elements and geographical scope

Mix here means a blend of diverse elements.

The meaning of the sentence is that GE Capital was distributed among different companies or securities in order to limit losses in the event of a fall in a particular market or industry in terms of a blend of diverse elements and geographical scope so that the downturn that could occur will not cause any severe internal pain.
