Finnish term

poistotaso

Finnish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I'm puzzled by the term "poistotaso" in the following context (from a document about construction work standards):

"
Poistotaso on materiaalin poistotason muodostama maapohja. Poistotaso määräytyy suunnitelma-asiakirjoihin merkittyjen teoreettisten rajapintojen mukaan.
"

I've found several references to "poistotaso" elsewhere, but in all other cases I've seen, it refers to a rate, degree, or similar property: e.g. "pölyn poistotaso" is the percentage of dust that is removed using a given method, over a given period of time, etc.

By contrast, in the above definition, "poistotaso" seems to refer to an actual physical object or site ("maapohja").

Does anyone have a handle on what the author of that quote had in mind with "poistotaso"?

Thanks

I suppose you are translating "Infra 2015 Rakennusosa- ja hankenimikkeistö". In the older version of this document the definition was as follows: "Poistotaso on täyttömateriaalin poistotason (esim. esikuormituspenger, irtilouhinta) muodostama maapohja." I suppose that "poistotaso" applies to the subgrade surface (soil) in the same way as "louhintapohja" applies for a bedrock base. Thus, "poistotaso" refers to the removal level of backfill, I guess.
Note from asker:
Thanks. Once it's clear what "materiaali" in the original sentence refers to, the meaning of "poistotaso" comes more clearly into focus. The older version's "täyttömateriaali" makes it more explicit what the material is, but for some reason, the newer version has left that information out.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "To be a bit more cautious, I'm going to say "subgrade removal level" (even though "filling level" might be perfectly OK in most contexts)."
