Can anyone please help me with the meaning of "canaux distants et intermédiés". The document is for a banking and insurance group and lays out the principles of governance for one of the group's entities.

arms-length I have had another thought, and perhaps "intermediary" should be "arms-length". However, arms-length is quite a specific term, so I conclude that "intermediary" or "brokered" channels is probably on the safer side. I would need to have read more of the source text to be sure.

canaux intermédiés refers to intermediation en assurance (I'll leave banks out on purpose as I don't know enough about them). There is unsurprisingly a European directive about that which you'll find here https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/fr/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32... Always a useful source of European terminology if you can/want to use it.
